Access
There is a very wide ramp leading to the main entrance of the Museum. Although the ramp doesn't fully meet the accessibility requirements, it is easily accessible for wheelchair users and other disabled people.
Visiting the galleries
The gallery spaces are extremely wide, enabling all visitors to move around comfortably and safely.
The galleries on one floor are connected by ramps. Although some of the ramps don't comply with all accessibility requirements, wheelchair users can gain access to all the areas in the different galleries.
The Museum also has an adapted lift that meets practically all the accessibility requirements. This lift can take wheelchair users to the first floor and basement where there are other galleries. The lift doesn't have Braille or tactile signs for the blind or visually impaired.
Espai 13: visitors have to use a staircase in order to gain access to this gallery, making it inaccessible to wheelchair users. Nevertheless, there is an alternative route through another gallery which people with mobility difficulties can use when accompanied by an authorised member of staff.
Adapted toilet
The Museum has an adapted toilet which is fully accessible and meets almost all the accessibility requirements. The toilet also has a baby-changing station with signage in Braille.
Other visitable areas of the Museum
The different Museum services are easily accessible. The only aspect to bear in mind is the fact that there is a protruding element in the corridor connecting these services which isn't properly signed so that the visually impaired can detect it.
The Museum has a series of lockers which are easily accessible for wheelchair users.
Bookstore and shop
These are fully accessible.
Restaurant
It is fully accessible, except for a section of the bar counter which protrudes and could be dangerous for the blind or visually impaired.
Library
It is located on the second floor which isn't served by the adapted lift, but visitors can gain access via the staff lift upon request.
Auditorium
The auditorium is located in the basement and can be reached via a flight of stairs. Although there is an alternative entrance outside the Museum, wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility can't gain access to it unaided as they have to use a steeply sloping ramp.
Alternative communication systems
Audioguides are available in different languages, although they haven't been designed specifically for blind or visually impaired people.
The Museum has an e-mail address which can be contacted to request information: . The Museum website also provides an alternative source of information.
