The "Las Golondrinas" harbour-ride fleet has two boats which have been adapted to allow disabled access.
Access
Access to the boats presents no major difficulties. There are several alternative entrances at the turnstiles allowing wheelchair users ease of access.
Boats
It is important to point out that great efforts have been made to adapt the boats to make them disabled-accessible.
The Trimar (one of the two adapted boats) has a special access ramp for disabled people, while all passengers use the same ramp to board the Òmnibus (the other adapted boat).
Both ramps have sharply sloping sections and some wheelchair users or other people with mobility problems may require help. There are sections of the handrails that don't have a rigid structure (ropes linking bollards) and some people may need assistance to cross the ramps in safety.
In addition to this, the characteristics of a boat (restricted space and the rounded hull) may result in mobility difficulties, particularly for wheelchair users. They may find it difficult to manoeuvre in some parts of the boat and may require assistance, particularly if they want to turn round.
Finally, it is important to mention that the different steps and protruding elements on the boats are correctly signed, making it easy for all passengers, and the visually impaired in particular, to be aware of them. In the case of the Òmnibus , in addition to the signage, a small ramp has been fitted to bridge the variation in level at the cabin entrance, making it easier for wheelchair users to gain access.
Adapted toilet
The two boats mentioned have an adapted toilet. It is important to point out that, due to the characteristics of the boat, special efforts have been made to fit out these toilets and, although they don't fully comply with accessibility regulations, they don't fall far short.
Alternative communication systems
At the time of writing, there is no information available as to whether there are alternative communication systems for the disabled.
