Access
The cathedral has several entrances. People with reduced mobility have to enter through the side door on Carrer Comtes as it is the only one with mobile ramps that can bridge the variations in level. This entrance is occasionally closed and when this happens visitors have to notify the person on duty at the main entrance, who will ask an authorised member of staff to open it.
The two other entrances, the main doorway on the Plaça de la Seu and the one on the Carrer del Bisbe, have steps that make access difficult. A mobile ramp is available for the entrance on Carrer Bisbe but this is only used for loading and unloading and is not suitable for people as the slope is too steep.
Itinerary
There are no major accessibility difficulties inside the cathedral.
The only problems of access are in areas such as the crypt of Santa Eulàlia, where there is a flight of steps and other protruding elements (stone sculptures) which disabled visitors could bump into. To visit the rooftop, disabled visitors have to go up a flight of steps to get to the lift.
Toilets
There are no public toilets.
Alternative communication systems
Audioguides in different languages are available in different areas of the cathedral. They haven't been designed specifically for blind or visually impaired people.
In addition to these audioguides, we are not aware of any other alternative communication systems, although information is available on the cathedral website.
